Residential and Care Homes

We offer a comprehensive service to care homes. As part of a patient’s care plan their eyes do require testing regularly. Not only can our qualified and experienced staff come out to your Care Home to conduct eye testing on site,

Our optometrists have also taken specialist training for the care of dementia patients as well as other specialised areas of care for residents. We can offer advice for any hospital requirements as well as specialist lighting and reading aids.

We offer a repair or replacement service for residents’ glasses – if they lose or break their spectacles we can come out to repair or otherwise replace spectacles within a week of being notified. Replacement glasses are available free to all patients who qualify for the NHS optical voucher – please see our FAQ for more information.

Urgent and emergency appointments are available under the MECS service. For all general resident sight tests, please note that we require 48 hours notice for an appointment for up to 2 residents. For 3 residents or more we require 21 days notice under as per PCT regulations.

We can also conduct on-site diabetic assessments for diabetic patients. Although this is not the same as a full diabetic screening, we can assess whether the resident will require to be transported to the practice or hospital for the screening.

We also offer perks for your nursing and care staff, including advice and training with recognising the signs that residents may be struggling with their eyesight as well as free sight tests – please contact us for more information.
